Glossary
Common terms and concepts used in peeq
- Calendar Feed
- A URL that provides your calendar events in a standard format (ICS/iCal). Calendar services like Google Calendar, Outlook, and Apple iCloud all provide these feeds. peeq reads from these feeds to display your events.
- Dashboard
- The main peeq view that shows your calendars and events. You can have multiple dashboards (e.g., one for family, one for work) each with their own set of calendars.
- Connected Display
- A device (tablet, phone, e-ink display) that you've connected to your peeq account to show your dashboard. Connected displays can be managed from your profile settings.
- E-Ink Display
- A type of electronic display that uses electronic ink technology (like a Kindle). These displays are easy on the eyes, visible in direct sunlight, and use very little power. peeq supports e-ink displays by providing PNG image exports.
- ICS / iCal
- A file format for calendar data (file extension: .ics). It's the universal standard for sharing calendars between different apps and services. When you get a "calendar feed URL" from Google or Outlook, it provides data in this format.
- Magic Link
- The sign-in method peeq uses. Instead of a password, we send you an email with a special link. Clicking that link signs you in. This is more secure than passwords and means you never have to remember (or reset) a password.
- Now & Next View
- A minimal peeq view that shows only two things: what's happening right now and what's coming up next. Perfect for small displays or when you just need the essentials. Learn more
- Pairing Code

- A special URL that lets others view your dashboard without being able to edit anything. Great for sharing a family calendar with grandparents or displaying in a common area. You can enable/disable this in your dashboard settings.
- Sync
- The process of fetching the latest events from your calendar feeds. peeq syncs automatically throughout the day. You can also manually trigger a sync from the dashboard.
- Timezone
- peeq needs to know your timezone to display events at the correct times. This is set based on your location (ZIP code) and can be updated in your profile settings.
- Today View
- A focused peeq view showing only today's events. Available as an interactive web page or as a PNG image for e-ink displays. Great for conference room displays or daily overviews. Learn more
